Help With USB Charging in Your Home

usb charger outlets

Homeowner Question:

We are a new step-family, blending four teenagers into one house. Overall, it's going surprisingly well - except when it comes to chargers. We bought them all charging cords and USB wall adapters for Christmas, and now it's fall and everything is missing. They take them between houses and inevitably lose them. It's frustrating and expensive, and tensions run high when one finds a stolen cord in another's room, for example. Is there anything we can do?

Any Hour Answer:

The charging woes are plentiful in households with lots of devices. And the problems are compounded when the kids have to move between households. While we can't help you with all the emotions in the house, here's what we can recommend to possibly help solve the charging conundrum.

First of all, you could make the chargers you purchased property of your home. Label them and explain to the kids that they don't leave the house or their designated rooms. Additionally, I recommend that lost chargers should be purchased at the teen's expense. This will give them some motivation to be mindful of their charger's whereabouts. Beyond that, I would strongly recommend replacing a few of the outlets in the bedrooms with USB outlets. It's easy to do yourself and relatively inexpensive - and could save a lot of heartache and trouble from lost wall adapters. In fact, you won't need wall adapters anymore at all!
