Do I HAVE To Get a Professional to Service My AC This Spring?

In this episode, we talk about getting your air conditioner ready for summer. We go over things you can do and how you can tell if it’s going to make it through another season. We also answer whether you need to pay a company to come out and service it once a year.Because your AC and furnace work together to cool your home, you don’t need to shut your furnace down for the season. You can switch your thermostat from Heat to Auto, or from Heat to Cool if there isn’t an automatic setting. Some units have an auto setting for the fan but not for the heat. After checking your thermostat, it can be a good idea to do a visual inspection of your outside unit. Make sure there’s enough space for air to flow into and out of it. You can also check that the wiring and refrigerant pipes are in good condition. We list a few more things in the video.

Once you check the outside, there are a few more things to check inside. We lay out what those are in the video. After you do those inspections and maintenance, it’s a good idea to get a professional out to take a look. In fact, many owners’ manuals say, “…in addition to the routine maintenance that you perform your home comfort system should be inspected regularly by a properly trained service technician.”Anyone with the right tools and experience can take care of this inspection. You might know someone that would do this for you because you have the best cookies in the neighborhood! That can help you save money and keep your AC running well. If you don’t know someone, most HVAC companies offer AC maintenance of some kind. You can ask around or search online. If you live in Utah, Any Hour Services would be happy to help. You can give us a call or schedule an appointment online.
