Have you ever called a friend to help you over the phone when something breaks? In this episode, we’re giving you that call for your furnace. We’ll go over the top 5 hacks we give to our friends when they call about a broken furnace. That way you can try the basics before you call a professional. The first thing you can check if your furnace isn’t working is your thermostat. That way you can make sure it’s turned to Heat and that the batteries are working. After that, you can head to your breakers and double-check the power is on and nothing tripped. Sometimes it’s as easy as turning it back on.After that, the next place to check is your air filter. Can you shine a light on one side and see it through the other? Is it obviously dirty? Is it still there, or did it collapse and get sucked into the duct? The air filter is one of the easiest things to replace that can do the most good for your furnace.

If the power is on, the thermostat is working, and the air filter is clean, it’s a good idea to check the furnace. There’s likely an error code light flashing or an error message display. Filming that to show to a technician can give them a lot of information they need to help your furnace. We go over a few more furnace hacks in the video.
