The Problem With Chemical Drain Cleaners

Drain clogs happen, and it may seem easy to use one of the big-name drain cleaners. But using them can actually do more harm than good. This video is full of information about safe drain clearing. We also go a little off the rails. If you want to get to the meat of the info, skip to 6:00.

There are 2 main reasons that many plumbers don’t recommend using many of the common drain cleaners. The first is how long they take to work. Most have to sit in your sink for a long time to clear out a blockage. It’s often far too long for the average person.

The second is the damage they cause. Many chemical drain cleaners use acids that eat away at your pipes. Newer pipes use plastic that can be more acid resistant, while older pipes are much more at risk. We go over that damage in the video, as well as alternatives you can use.

If you’re dealing with clogged or slow drains, Any Hour Services would be happy to help. Our Drain Technicians can help you get those pipes flowing again. They can also go over options that can help avoid future problems. You can give us a call or schedule an appointment online.
