Clear your Drains with Muscle Power

It may feel like you’ve tried every drain cleaner and DIY method to clear your shower drain. If those aren’t working, there are a couple other ways to open up your drains with a more physical approach!

In this article, we go over 2 ways to get drain clogs out by hand. That way you aren’t stuck showering while standing in 2 inches of water.

Pull the Stopper Out

Most of the time, the source of a clog lies a few inches below the stopper. Once you have the stopper removed, we recommend bending a small hook at the end of a stiff wire or metal hanger.

Send the device down your drain and pull out the debris. After you pull the clog out, flush your drain with hot water and reassemble the stopper.

Time to get the Plunger

With a blockage deeper in your pipes, we recommend trying the plunger method. Find a plunger that can seal the area around your drain. If you have questions about which plunger you need for the job and how to use the various kinds, click here.

If possible, stand above the plunger and press down firmly and quickly 8-10 times. This should dislodge the debris and help move it along your pipes to get your water flowing again.

If These Solutions Don't Clear The Clog, It Might Be Time To Call A Pro.
