You Shouldn't Have To Avoid Entire Rooms This Summer
When the summer heat is at its peak it can be hard to cool your house evenly. You might have entire rooms you avoid because they get too hot. In this episode, we talk all about why you have hot spots in the house and what you can do about them. We also go over some common things to avoid.
There’s a reason why hot spots are so common. When contractors build a new home, they often use the same size ductwork regardless of the room. That results in hot spots because each room needs a different amount of air moving in and out for even cooling.
The good news is it doesn’t have to be that way. You can help the problem in a number of ways. A full room evaluation to replace the ductwork with the right size is the most effective way. But if that’s more than you want to tackle right now, we go over several things you can do yourself in the video.
A big thing you can do is check for things that can block airflow in your system. Changing your air filter, opening vents, and moving things away from air returns can ease some stress on your system. That will help it do a better job. If you do choose to close some vents, make sure not to close more than 20% of them. Any more than that and there won’t be enough airflow for your system to work well.
If you decide that getting the right size of ductwork is the way to go, we’d be happy to help. Any Hour Services can send one of our certified HVAC technicians to evaluate your home and let you know your options. You can give us a call or schedule an appointment online.
