To Flush Your Water Heater, Or Not To Flush. That Is The Question
Do you know if you need to flush your water heater? Do you know what a water heater flush is? In this episode, we’ll give you answers to those questions. We’ll go over the basics of what a water heater flush does. Then we’ll talk about different types of water heater flushes and their benefits.
A water heater flush is a way to remove the sediment and things at the bottom of the tank. Gravity pulls sand, minerals, and other sediments down to collect at the bottom tank. That sediment can build up and cause your water heater to work harder than it would otherwise.
If that happens, you could end up with a layer of junk coating the bottom of the tank. That layer insulates the water from the burner in a gas water heater. It makes heating the water take longer and needs more fuel to heat. It can also take up a lot of space, effectively shrinking your tank.
A regular flush can eliminate a lot of those problems. In fact, keeping up with your flushes can sometimes double the lifespan of your water heater! We go over how that works in detail in the video.
