Is A Tankless Water Heater Actually Better?
Tankless water heaters come with never-ending hot water and lower utility bills. On top of that, they last for decades. That can seem like a no-brainer to a lot of people. Even so, they aren't the best fit for everyone. In this video, we discuss finding out which water heater is best for you and your family.
When many people ask, “Is a tankless water heater worth it,” they’re talking about money. A tankless water heater might cost anywhere from 3 to 4 times as much as a tanked water heater to install. That’s because of the more expensive equipment and the new routing needed for a tankless.
Along with that, a tankless water heater can have a hard time getting water to a lot of places at the same time. If there are 7 to 9 people in a home that all like to take showers at once, a tankless might struggle with that. We go over these and other considerations in the video.
On the other end of things, a tankless water heater can be much more efficient at heating your water. Because it doesn't have to heat up a full tank of water all the time, it only uses energy when you need it. And as long as you have the hot water running, you'll never run out of hot water. A tankless water heater can also last 2 to 3 times as long as a tanked water heater. That way you don't need to replace it as often as a tanked water heater. We go over some other benefits of a tankless water heater in the video as well.
When you’re looking at new water heaters, it’s a good idea to get a plumber out to look at your situation. That way they can work with you on what options work for you and your home.
